How Sleep and Urethane Anesthesia Differ in the Brain

In this new study published in Nature, Dr. Jurij Brankačk, Dr. Andreas Draguhn and team compare brain activity during sleep and urethane anesthesia in mice. Using NeuroNexus laminar probes, researchers found that while both states show slow-wave and theta rhythms, urethane produces more regular, less diverse activity; highlighting key differences in underlying mechanisms.
