Pathological Retinal Activity Emerges Late in RCS Rats

A new study by Frank Müller et al.reports that RCS rats – a common model for retinal degeneration – develop low-frequency (~2 Hz) pathological retinal oscillations at later stages (11–19 months). These oscillations, which may interfere with retinal prostheses, were detected using planar and custom kirigami MEAs, with NeuroNexus adapters enabling intraretinal recordings.
