A-Series Probes (Isomura)

Hardware
An Isomura-layout silicon probe has three or four parallel shanks with lengths and site positions arranged to record the same cortical layer across several columns, with sites of 172 to 305 µm², larger than the rest of the A-Series.

Catalog designs have 33, 64 or 65 sites on three or four shanks of 7 to 12 mm, on 50 µm silicon; the odd site counts include a reference site on one shank. Iridium is the standard site metal, with Z-coat (PEDOT) as an option. The layout is for laminar work across columns, where the question is how one layer behaves at several horizontal positions rather than how a column behaves through depth; the cortical layers entry covers the depths involved.
