A-Series Probes (Linear and Edge Layouts)
An A-Series silicon probe in the linear or edge layout has its electrode sites spread along the shank at a regular pitch, so one penetration records a depth profile through the structure.
This is the largest group in the catalog: 16 to 256 sites on 1 to 16 shanks, 2 to 12 mm long, in linear and edge layouts, with sites usually 177 µm² and a 703 µm² option, on 15 or 50 µm silicon. Iridium is the standard site metal, with Z-Coat (PEDOT) as an option. The site pitch and site span are the selection variables: a 50 µm pitch resolves cortical layers, a 100 µm pitch covers a thicker structure with the same site count. The probes are packaged on the A-Series for acute work and on the CM, Hybrid and X-Series packages for chronic implants; the Buzsáki, polytrode and tetrode layouts have their own entries.
