Fusion Package Series

Hardware
A Fusion package has a double-sided silicon probe, two electrode faces bonded back to back on one shank, so the site count and sampling density double at nearly the same cross-section; it records and stimulates on both faces.

The doubled site count comes out on several Omnetics connectors rather than one larger one: two Omnetics 16-pin on the 32-channel builds, two Omnetics 32-pin at 64 channels, and four Omnetics 32-pin on a 30 mm cable at 128. Each connector mates a SmartLink 16 or 32 headstage directly, or an X-Series headstage through an X-Series connector adapter, and the data acquisition system synchronizes the headstages, so a 128-channel Fusion probe runs on four 32-channel headstages. Stimulation through the package uses X-Series stim-record headstages on XDAQ.

Compatible silicon designs: 1 to 8 shanks, 3 to 15 mm, in all four site layouts, sites usually 177 µm².
