Fusion Double-Sided Silicon Probes

Hardware
A Fusion probe is a standard silicon probe design fabricated with electrode sites on both faces of the shank, so the site count doubles in the same cross-section and the shank records on both sides; Fusion is a build option on existing designs rather than a design family of its own.

The shank displaces the same tissue as the single-sided build, so the added sites cost no added insertion footprint. Catalog designs can be built as Fusion at 32 to 128 channels, 1 to 8 shanks, 2 to 10 mm, on 30 or 100 µm silicon with iridium sites, with further designs on special order; the doubled channel count comes out through the Fusion packages on two or four Omnetics connectors, each read by its own headstage.
