NeuroNexus Probe Adapters
A NeuroNexus adapter joins a probe package to a headstage or acquisition system the package was not terminated for, either by remapping pins between two connector types or by breaking one dense connector out into several standard ones.
The connector-pair adapter is the remap: one input connector against one output, covering the NeuroNexus package connectors (DIP-16, Omnetics 16/32/64, Samtec 40, ZIF, CQ4, Q4 and others) and the inputs of Intan, Blackrock, Cerebus, AM Systems, BrainAmp and other systems, with 2×, 4×, breakout, female and MRI-conditional variants. The High-Density Matrix adapter is the breakout: it takes a micro-HDMI or Matrix input and fans it to four or eight Omnetics 32, to Cerebus, to a 128-channel datalogger or to a SmartHS headstage. Two bare interface boards are in the family, PCB_CM16 (16 channels, Omnetics 16 out) and the S256 PCB (256 channels).
A remap adapter changes which pin corresponds to which channel, so the site-to-channel map on the DAQ side of the adapter differs from the map on the package drawing, and nothing in the physical fit shows it. Confirm the map through the adapter against a known signal before the first recording and record it in the session's channel configuration. Within the X-Series platform the X-Series adapters join EIBs, X3 and X6 connectors and the X-Series headstage, and the Kontex system adapter brings a Neuropixels probe into XDAQ. Which NeuroNexus headstage mates each package connector without an adapter is under probe package.
