Activus SiNAPS Package Series
An Activus SiNAPS package mounts a SiNAPS active-pixel probe on a PCB and terminates in a 50-pin Samtec connector for the SiNAPS ribbon cable; the probe digitizes on the shank, so there is no headstage, and the package connects through the SiNAPS interface box to the Smartbox at 256 or 1,024 channels.
An active pixel under each site amplifies and multiplexes on the shank, so the data stream leaves the package digital, at 12 bits and 20 kS/s per pixel with 6.5 µV rms input-referred noise over 300 to 7,500 Hz. The SiNAPS configuration of Smartbox provides the interface-box connection and the host connection over USB3 or Ethernet; calibration and setup are in the SiNAPS manual. The package records only.
Three catalog designs: one shank at 256 sites, four shanks at 1,024 and eight shanks at 1,024, on 5.0 to 5.5 mm shanks with platinum sites of 196 µm² on a 29 µm pitch; the HD Series entry has the shank dimensions. AVSH256 adds a flexible cable for a chronic implant. The Optoelectrode/AVS builds (OAVS256, OAVS1024) fix an optical fiber to a shank, terminating in a standard fiber-optic connector for a separate light source.
