Optoelectrode Package
An optoelectrode package is a probe package build that fixes an optical fiber alongside the electrode array, so light is delivered on the same trajectory as the recording sites; it is a build option on most package series rather than a series of its own.
The fiber is fitted at assembly and terminates in a standard fiber-optic connector for a separate laser or LED source.
The electrical chain is that of the base series: the package connector mates the same headstage, and the light source is separate from the data acquisition system. The light pulse is timestamped with the neural data through GPIO: the driver's trigger goes to a digital input, or XDAQ ALL-IN-ONE drives up to four optogenetic channels itself. The fiber adds cross-section along the whole trajectory, and light reaching the sites produces a photoelectric artifact at pulse onset that must be kept separable in time from the response; irradiance falls steeply from the fiber tip, so sites near the fiber receive a different stimulus from sites far from it.
Optoelectrode builds exist on the A-Series, CM, Hybrid, ZIF, Q-Trode, Vector, drug-delivery and Activus SiNAPS series: OA32LP, OCM16LP, OH32LP, OZ32LP, OCQ4LP, OV32, OD16LP, OAVS256 and their siblings. The fiber configuration (core, cladding, numerical aperture, length) is confirmed on the quotation.
