An EIB package is a passive electrode interface board: it routes a 64-site probe over a 30 mm cable to two Molex 34-pin board-to-board connectors, with no active electronics in the assembly.
The EIB is used where the laboratory routes the signals on its own interface board. The Molex 34-pin receptacles are board-to-board connectors rather than a headstage interface, so the package does not mate a SmartLink or X-Series headstage directly; the laboratory's board or an adapter sits between the EIB and the headstage, and the headstage then streams to the data acquisition system as usual. The X-Series EIB rail adapters join an EIB to an X3 or X3SR headstage. The body is UV epoxy.
Compatible silicon designs: catalog 64-site probes, 1 to 8 shanks, 3 to 15 mm, in all four site layouts.
