Commutator PRO
Record Neuropixels and record/stimulate through passive probes at once — on one continuously rotating, torque-compensated joint

The Commutator PRO is the motorized commutator in the NeuroNexus catalog — engineered and manufactured by Kontex, commercialized by NeuroNexus. A built-in low-noise motor and an onboard microprocessor continuously detect and compensate for the cable torque an animal's movement generates, so the recording stays stable and the behavior stays naturalistic. Two torque-sensing options — an animal-side gyroscope or an integrated rotor-side Hall sensor — cover Neuropixels and non-Neuropixels paradigms alike. The customizable HDMI port carries XR recording and XSR stimulation-recording headstages along with their gyro control and GPIO, so a NeuroNexus probe and headstage connect directly; Neuropixels recording and stimulation through passive probes run at the same time, on the same rotating joint.
