Hybrid Package Series

Hardware
A Hybrid package (H-style package) mounts a silicon probe to one end of a thin-film polyimide ribbon cable, with the other end of the cable attached to a PCB and connector, so the probe is mechanically uncoupled from the connector; the thin-film cable is very flexible and can even twist slightly. The "H" stands for hybrid assembly, the hybrid of a thin-film silicon probe and a thin-film polymer component, silicon and polymer.

It is the chronic package for a floating implant, a microdrive or connector stand-off. Cable lengths are 10 to 50 mm on most builds, with a 200 mm option on H32. Connectors: Omnetics 16 or 32, up to four at 128 channels (H, HC builds); Hirose on the HZ builds for TDT ZIF-Clip headstages; a CQ4 on HQ4; non-magnetic MRI Omnetics on the MRH and MRHC builds. The Omnetics builds mate a SmartLink headstage directly or an X-Series headstage through an adapter; for a freely moving animal an X-Series headstage streams to XDAQ over one cable, through a commutator. Stimulation uses an X-Series stim-record headstage on XDAQ. Optoelectrode builds (OH16LP, OH32LP, OH64LP, OHZ16LP, OHZ32LP) add an optical fiber.

Compatible silicon designs, the widest of any series: 1 to 16 shanks, 2 to 60 mm, all four site layouts.
