A single long shank with sites spread evenly down the shank, one per row, for a profile across depth. Among the 371 probe designs in the design space it is mid-range: 16 sites (a common choice — 84 of 369), 10 mm shanks (a common choice — 79 of 363), a 0.77 mm-deep site array (44th percentile), 1,393 sites/mm² (90th percentile) and a 0.33 mm³ neural interface (16th percentile).
Small sites read a local patch at higher impedance, sharpening single-unit isolation, spaced for a laminar profile. The long shank reaches deep targets.
