Tetrode 2-Shank 16-Channel Probe, 3 mm
Sites clustered rather than spread — polytrode and tetrode groups a sorter can separate

Two short shanks side by side, closely spaced for coverage within one structure, with sites grouped in tetrodes at intervals, for unit isolation at set depths. Among the 371 probe designs in the design space it is in the lower quartile: 16 sites (a common choice — 84 of 369), 3 mm shanks (a common choice — 37 of 363), a 0.2 mm-deep site array (12th percentile), 415 sites/mm² (63rd percentile) and a 0.24 mm³ neural interface (8th percentile).
Small sites read a local patch at higher impedance, sharpening single-unit isolation, packed densely enough to track a unit across neighbouring sites. The short shanks suit superficial targets.
Orders as a probe-plus-package assembly, in 25 package configurations, 2 of them microdrive-compatible. Silicon 15 or 50 µm thick. Z-coat available. Optical stimulation runs from a separate laser or LED source. Research use only.
