Tetrode 8-Shank 32-Channel Probe, 2 mm
Sites clustered rather than spread — polytrode and tetrode groups a sorter can separate
Eight short shanks side by side, closely spaced for coverage within one structure, with sites grouped in tetrodes at intervals, for unit isolation at set depths. Among the 371 probe designs in the design space it is in the lower quartile: 32 sites (a common choice — 155 of 369), 2 mm shanks (8th percentile of the 366 measured), a 0.05 mm-deep site array (4th percentile), 477 sites/mm² (68th percentile) and a 0.53 mm³ neural interface (39th percentile).
Small sites read a local patch at higher impedance, sharpening single-unit isolation, packed densely enough to track a unit across neighbouring sites. The short shanks suit superficial targets.
Orders as a probe-plus-package assembly, in 19 package configurations. Silicon 15 µm thick. Z-coat available. Optical stimulation runs from a separate laser or LED source. Research use only.
