Four long shanks side by side, spread for lateral coverage across columns, with sites spread evenly down each, one per row, for a profile across depth. Among the 371 probe designs in the design space it is mid-range: 16 sites (a common choice — 84 of 369), 10 mm shanks (a common choice — 79 of 363), a 0.41 mm-deep site array (27th percentile), 13 sites/mm² (4th percentile) and a 1.64 mm³ neural interface (84th percentile).
