Edge 8-Shank 256-Channel Probe, 5 mm
Sites spread along the shank — linear and edge layouts for depth profiling

Eight mid-length shanks side by side, closely spaced for coverage within one structure, with sites along the shank's edge, closest to the tissue the probe faces. Among the 371 probe designs in the design space it is mid-range: 256 sites (99th percentile), 5 mm shanks (a common choice — 107 of 363), a 0.79 mm-deep site array (47th percentile), 230 sites/mm² (49th percentile) and a 1.23 mm³ neural interface (79th percentile).
Small sites read a local patch at higher impedance, sharpening single-unit isolation, packed densely enough to track a unit across neighbouring sites. The mid-length shanks reach structures a few millimetres down.
Orders as a probe-plus-package assembly, in 5 package configurations. Silicon 15 µm thick. Z-coat available. Research use only.
